HireAbility’s ALEX Supports Microsoft Excel Resumes, CVs and Job Orders

One of the many benefits that our clients enjoy is the continual development and release activity that our hosted solution can provide. When enhancements are made to our software they immediately become available to everyone. No longer do you have to have your system admin come in early on a Sunday to patch the software while everyone else is at home in bed. The latest update to our parsing software includes support for Microsoft Excel documents.

Why would we add support for these file types? You may have read of people using Microsoft Excel to write their resume as some find it easier to format their preferred design. However, most people then print it as a PDF for submission. As part of our continued commitment to adding broader language support we found that some countries do in fact use Excel without then converting to a more traditional format such as PDF. As such, we are excited to announce that our world-class resume / CV and job order parsing software ALEX, now supports Microsoft Excel files!

A full list of supported formats and file extensions is below.

Text – .txt
Microsoft Word – .doc and .docx
Portable Document Format – .pdf
Rich Text Format – .rtf
Web Pages – .html, .htm, .asp, .aspx, .php
OpenOffice Text – .odt
Microsoft Excel – .xls, .xlsx

In addition the ALEX CV/Resume parser supports Social Media CV, profile and Business profile parsing. The growing list of Social Media profiles includes LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter profiles. Keep your eye on this blog for future updates to our software.
