The European Commission’s Directive on Data Protection went into effect in October of 1998, and prohibited the transfer of personal data to non-European Union countries that do not meet the European Union (EU) “adequacy” standard for privacy protection.

This act prohibited EU countries from sending personal data such as resumes/CVs to computer systems hosted outside of the EU. HireAbility has never stored any data from the documents parsed by our service. As such we have always been Safe Harbour compliant.

We have taken the next step and now have our compliance certified. As of today, HireAbility certifiably complies with the US-EU Safe Harbour Framework and US-Swiss Safe Harbour Framework as set forth by the US Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal information from European Union member countries and Switzerland.
