Our client is a publicly owned warehousing and logistics company. They have been in operation for more than 25 years with annual sales revenue of over $500M.
Qualifications / Skills Required
1) Degree (4 year) in Business/Warehouse Operations Management preferred or supplementary logistics operations management courses or equivalent training and experience
2) 5 – 10 years of experience as a senior leader overseeing multiple business units in a temperature-controlled warehousing/transportation environment or similar industry
3) Proven track record in successfully identifying and implementing potential efficiency gains and increasing business unit profitability
4) Experience in sourcing and securing business development opportunities
5) Expertise in developing and maintaining positive customer relations
6) Knowledge of industry best practices within a distribution environment
7) Understanding of refrigeration standards and transportation logistics
8) Proficient in computers and warehouse management systems
9) Excellent leadership, coaching and mentoring skills to develop a team from both a productivity/motivation and succession planning standpoint
10) Strong organizational and communication skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
11) Ability to identify the strengths of others and coach/mentor them into a role that will capitalize on those strengths
12) Ability to maintain excellent relationships with partners/customers
Partial Job Description
1) Oversee performance of multiple company facilities (in the Ontario region) including operations, customer support and transportation
2) Plan, direct and implement facility operations and administrative support to meet prescribed productivity and service goals
3) Oversee development and compliance with systems and procedures for operating/managing physical facilities, HR, equipment and services profitably
4) Operate in compliance with federal, provincial and local statutes
5) Direct the Operational Management Team to achieve proscribed objectives
6) Ensure the necessary information systems are available to meet company objectives and facilitate the efficient operations of the facilities
7) Establish customer support standards for all accounts and communicate these standards to all associates
8) Ensure that customer accounts receive the required level of operations and administrative support
9) Maintain and expand services to site clients and their supply chain including planning account strategies, making sales calls, assisting in developing rates, etc.
10) Develop and recommend an annual operating budget
11) Recommend equipment and facilities required to ensure efficient operation and meet company profit goals
12) Develop and manage a system of controls to ensure that service levels and operational performance goals are met within prescribed cost, revenue and profit parameters
13) Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
14) Develop suitable processes for maintaining company standards of sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping and safety of associates’ equipment, facilities, in a manner that ensures their most efficient operation
15) Interview, hire and train employees
16) Oversee scheduling, planning, assigning and directing work
17) Appraise performance, reward and discipline employees, conduct staff meetings, address complaints and resolve problems
18) Perform other duties as required
