Our client is a publicly owned manufacturer of dairy (ice-cream) products. The company has been in operation for more than 10 years and has annual sales of over $1M.

Responsibilities
1) Work under the direction of the QA Manager
2) Direct GMP, sanitation, pest control and hygienic design programs
3) Develop, implement and maintain the factory sanitation program
4) Ensure all products are manufactured in a sanitary and wholesome environment
5) Make sure the sanitation program includes the facility environment
6) Ensure sanitation program is being included for (internal/external) as well as the processing and supporting of equipment
7) Make sure the program must have validated SSOPs for all sanitation needs during implementation
8) Ensure effective/efficient cleaning frequency is managed through a master sanitation schedule
9) Coordinate activities with Operations, Engineering and other support groups
10) Ensure the consistent use of the program procedures
11) Make sure cleaning program complies with company policies and procedures as well as with regulatory (federal, state, local) requirements
12) Serve as a primary contact with third-party sanitation and pest control partners
13) Ensure that joint factory specific objectives are established and achieved
14) Make sure that an IPM is developed, implemented and maintained to support a pest-free environment
15) Oversee execution results and follow-up with any deviations of the plant environmental surveillance program
16) Develop, implement, and maintain factory allergen control programs
17) Manage the development and completion of allergen cleaning validations
18) Provide leadership/direction in establishing an effective process
19) Ensure proactive input on sanitary design issues at the factory for existing and new processes including factory structure
20) Coordinate and manage factory sanitation/GMP/regulatory inspection and audit program
21) Act as the main point of contact for all external audits (NQS, regulatory, third party)
22) Coordinate internal GMP inspections/audit program
23) Develop, implement and maintain an effective plant self inspection program, coaching cross functional teams
24) Identify and resolve food safety issues across the factory
25) Handle the management and communication of a formalized CA process to drive continuous improvement
26) Direct and manage food safety technicians and ensure plant food safety program development and execution
27) Manage employees for support of team members
28) Work with a variety of cross-functional customers (QA, Operations, engineers, regulators), both in-house and outside
29) Ensure the plant is aware of and is continuously improving overall plant sanitation
30) Identify potential sources and develop actions plans to eliminate sources of contamination

Requirements
1) BS in Microbiology, Food Science/Technology, Food Sanitation or a relevant
2) AIB/ASI /Pest Control or other professional GMP/sanitation training preferred
3) 3+ years of experience in food plant sanitation (supervisory experience preferred)
4) Experience in sanitation within a “micro sensitive environment” – water and soft drink (liquids)
5) Experience in GMP, sanitation, pest control and hygienic design programs
6) Background in microbiology and database management
7) Proficient in MS Office
8) Excellent communication, training, facilitation and supervisory skills
9) Good leadership, interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills
10) Ability to work with minimal direct supervision
11) Self-motivated strategic thinker with the ability to work with people at all levels of the organization
