Our client is a privately owned manufacturer of baked goods. The company has been in operation for more than 25 years and has annual sales of over $25M.
Responsibilities
1) Manage complete Product Quality and Food Quality processes
2) Handle staffing requirements, new hire and rotational training, budget development/adherence and documentation accuracy
3) Improve the detailed metrics of the operation through visual and hands-on applications along with development of the immediate associate staff and lead personnel
4) Implement, for the purpose of day-to-day administration, specific policies, procedures and programs established by the Regulatory and Company guidelines
5) Participate in selecting qualified personnel in all positions reporting directly.
6) Implement progressive and timely performance evaluations and disciplinary process in the area of counseling, oral and written warnings
7) Ensure a productive labor climate in the manufacturing operation
8) Recommend overtime to the Plant Manager, as required
9) Ensure appropriate training is taking place for all quality initiatives, including Food Safety, HACCP, GMPs, etc.
10) Support training and development of all management members, ensuring accuracy of documentation
11) Keep records of departmental shift activities, as required
12) Perform regular plant inspections in order to identify and correct product safety deficiencies
13) Drive the development of QA programs
14) Support/improve team efforts and initiate team approaches to problem-solving on shift-to-shift basis
15) Enforce company policy in regards to GMP, safety and personnel practices by conducting weekly committee inspection of the plant
16) Develop lead persons
17) Establish accountabilities and goals used for performance evaluation in concert with the Plant Manager and individual direct reports
18) Ensure that duties, responsibilities and authority of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.
19) Coordinate and maintain HACCP Team involvement, coordinate efforts with department heads to ensure availability of team members
20) Review QA procedures, standards and policies to comply with AIB, FDA, FPA, federal, state and local agencies
21) Ensure departmental objectives are achieved in each area of Operations as designated by the Plant Manager
22) Look for improvement of methods, best practices and elimination of wasteful practices within the department on a continuous basis
23) Ensure consistent working practices between shifts and shift leads
24) Monitor and implement by reviewing, recommendations to facility's quality improvement
Requirements
1) AS degree (preferred) or certification in AIB Baking & Science correspondence course
2) 5+ years of Operations experience in a manufacturing company, in a similar role handling produce, production control, as well as maintenance and quality improvement
3) Knowledge of food manufacturing industry a plus (regulation inspection procedures is highly desired)
4) Strong working knowledge in Food Safety Regulations, AIB, FPA, Kosher, USDA and FDA compliance
5) Administrative and technical knowledge with proven ability to train and motivate personnel
6) Experience in SQF auditing with exceptional ability to communicate at all levels
7) Ability to take control of situations and follow them through to a successful end result
8) Ability to work well with all levels of management and peers
9) Ability to work with little supervision
10) Ability to effectively function in pressure situations
11) Proven hands-on supervisory and leadership abilities
