MAJOR FUNCTION:
Coordinates the internal collection of accounting data and financial results from divisions, regions, business units, cost centers or product lines, for purposes of external financial reporting or internal financial analysis. Requires knowledge of accounting principles, internal cost-transfer policies, SEC regulations, FASB guidelines, as well as an understanding of company structure, organization, and products. Interacts with subsidiary accountants, cost accountants, financial analysts, treasury and investor relations personnel, line management and internal/external auditors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Directs, monitors, and evaluates the activities and performance of the corporate general accounting staff.
• Responsible for reviewing and approving all JV’s and account reconciliations of corporate accounting staff.
• Supervises the maintenance of the company's general ledger accounts and cost centers.
• Responsible for monitoring and controlling all restructuring accounting.
• Responsible for Worldwide inventory and costing including the applicable inventory reserves, profit in inventory eliminations, etc. etc.
• Supervises worldwide fixed asset accounting.
• Supervises month-end consolidations
• Responsible for the completion of the consolidated monthly flux analysis.
• Among the duties of this position are management reporting and policy-making as it pertains to the Department. In general, this individual may be looked to for technical and analytical guidance in identifying and solving problems within the functional limits of the Department.
• Updates financial accounting policies and procedure documentation in compliance with US GAAP and, PCAOB and SEC requirements. Assist in Sarbanes Oxley compliance including the gathering/maintenance of required documentation
• Participates in and provides other support, reports and analyses as requested.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
BS in Accounting; CPA Required.
PREREQUISITES FOR THE JOB:
• Minimum of four (4) years Big 4 or large regional public accounting.
• Five (5) to Eight (8) years total experience in public accounting or public / industry gained through increasingly responsible positions within accounting with experience in GAAP, SEC reporting, SARBOX and consolidations.
PREFERENCES FOR THE JOB:
• General ledger accounting background with knowledge of consolidations involving international subsidiaries and monthly closings.
• SEC reporting experience.
• SARBOX experience primarily concerning design and documentation of internal controls
• Past experience and affiliations with successful companies that use SAP, preferred.
