Responsibilities
1) Direct, coordinate and lead activities for purchasing
2) Plan, organize, direct and control activities related to the categories of spend managed
3) Analyze market and oversee delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability/price as well as prepare market analysis reports
4) Develop and utilize a system to evaluate vendor quotations with the appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques
5) Ensure quality, price, delivery and service
6) Recruit and maintain suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price
7) Maintain the highest code of ethics and conduct
8) Prepare and issue purchase contracts and change notices
9) Review and resolve vendor claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
10) Prepare and review contracts, bids, proposals and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price and acceptability of items to specifications
11) Oversee all activities related to procurement of packaging, from intent to purchase through delivery of the material
12) Identify and present new packaging ideas and innovations
13) Assist in new packaging design/development and commercialization process
14) Drive cost savings initiatives through negotiation, packaging design and operational efficiencies
Requirements
1) Bachelor’s degree (Packaging Engineering from the University of Michigan preferred)
2) Minimum 3 years of related purchasing experience with a track record of accomplishments and continuous improvement in purchasing (e-purchasing experience)
3) Experience in food packaging (flexible and corrugated, bottles and folding cartons)
4) Experience in leveraging vendor relationships and achieving cost savings via cost reduction programs as well as expertise in running negotiations through e-procurement
6) Proficient in MS Word and Excel
7) Ability to communicate in Spanish
8) Willingness to travel – up to 30%
