Qualifications / Skills Required
1) BS in Food Science or related 4-year degree
2) Minimum 5 years of related experience as well as experience in the food industry (seafood preferred)
3) Good communication (verbal and written) skills
4) Excellent and organizational skills with an eagerness to learn
5) Ability to lift weights (50lbs) and perform other duties and/or projects as assigned

Partial Job Description
1) Apply scientific and engineering principles in R&D, production technology, quality control, packaging, processing and utilization of foods
2) Formulate new products and modifies existing product formulas based on general and/or specific input from sales and marketing channels
3) Design and execute new product line test runs
4) Analyze line test results and recommend adjustments to product formulas/processes to keep product within target cost parameters and organoleptic attributes
5) Troubleshoot and recommend modifications to existing product formulas and/or processes to improve productivity, quality and/or product cost
6) Generate preliminary, tentative and finished product specifications for new processes
7) Maintain accurate laboratory and project work documentation
8) Support sales and marketing channels with customer presentations both on and off-site
9) Assist Culinary Staff with product demonstrations, luncheons, seminars, food shows, focus groups, etc.
10) Maintain cutting edge knowledge of food manufacturing processes, ingredients and raw materials as they apply to the seafood industry and the food industry as a whole
11) Act as a substitute for R&D technicians for sample packing, shipment, laboratory maintenance, etc. as required
12) Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned
