Qualifications / Skills Required
1) MS or an equivalent degree
2) 10+ years of relevant experience including 3+ years of operating experience at an executive level
3) Prior meat industry/perishable industry experience
4) Excellent communication, critical analysis and research skills
5) Ability to interact with tact and diplomacy in dealings with the public and governmental agencies
6) Ability to organize large volumes of work in an efficient and detailed manner
7) Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and delegate
Partial Job Description
1) Establish short- and long-term goals of objectives of staff
2) Oversee performance related activities of staff
3) Allocate resources including budget and personnel
4) Maintain understanding of product specifications on all products lines
5) Partner closely with executive members, field support and customer service to ensure that customer requirements are met
6) Work directly with external vendors as needed
7) Partner with the Marketing Director for product development activities
8) Lead new product activities and participate in the development of a rolling pipeline of new product and line extension activities that support corporate strategy
9) Work closely with co-packers to identify, test and launch new products and line extensions that can not be produced internally
10) Work with Marketing and Sales to maximize revenue and margin impact without disrupting current operations
11) Develop and manage all new product development within assigned budget allocation
12) Prepare budget and control operating costs and supplies for department and laboratory
13) Handle labeling and regulatory function for all finished goods produced in any and all further processed facilities
14) Manage labeling and regulatory function for any and all inter-company product transfers
15) Communicate labeling requirements to corrugated, label and ingredient suppliers
16) Manage the installation and maintenance of finished goods including specifications, bills of material, nutritional analysis, allergens, label approvals and product information sheets
17) Work closely with Operations, Procurement, Accounting, Sales, QA and Shipping to update and communicate changes to all product specifications
18) Maintain state of the art expertise in food R&D and keep abreast of food regulations
19) Supervise and coordinate the activities of assigned associates directly
20) Motivate, hire, train and provide leadership to insure subordinates are properly equipped to be successful in their positions
21) Assist Procurement and Supply Chain in resolving ingredient and product issues
