Our client is a publicly owned manufacturer of beverages. The company has been in operation for more than 25 years and employs over 1,000 people.

Responsibilities
1) Lead and engage the activities of 20 hourly-unionized employees in the day-to-day operations of the distillery
2) Ensure daily staff planning to optimize and attain the production requirements, prioritizing tasks, quality, optimize equipment and efficiency
3) Oversee safety, leadership, engagement, integrity and regulatory requirements such as CARM, LTO, Willis Ethics, Code of Business Conduct and coaching
4) Make sure compliance with the federal and provincial safety regulations are met and maintain a safe working environment
5) Focus on internal based jobs, including daily contacts with production planning personnel and the Maturing Department
6) Ensure compliance with federal excise regulations, federal and corporate standard dealing with transportation of dangerous goods are met
7) Develop a firm understanding of the entire distillation operation
8) Train employees, resolve employee matters, manage corporate programs, food safety, employee safety, GMPs and environmental issues
9) Oversee time and attendance of employees for payroll purposes
10) Ensure safety policies are adhered, conduct safety meetings and address safety concerns
11) Lead, develop, train and retain a team of distillery operators
12) Ensure efficient communication with all stakeholders
13) Make sure compliance with company policies, procedures and both federal and provincial legislation are met
14) Approve weekly payroll of all hourly employees
15) Ensure scheduling and maintaining necessary records for vacation administration
16) Adhere to budget guidelines and deliver in a timely fashion
17) Generate ideas to improve area of duty and communicate these ideas to appropriate personnel
18) Issue work orders to maintenance for routine and non-scheduled maintenance requirements
19) Ensure record keeping tasks are upheld and in a timely, accurate manner
20) Conduct daily quality requirements in appropriate manner and report results
21) Maintain records of all results to adhere to corporate guidelines committed to continuous improvement
22) Participate in teams for improving quality and efficiency
23) Provide guidance and direction to Production operators in urgent or emergency situations on evenings and weekends
24) Support site goal of achieving all KPI targets

Requirements
1) Degree (4 year) in Business, Operations Management, Transportation/Warehousing Management or Process/Chemical Engineering
2) 5+ years of experience including 2 – 3 years in a supervisory role in a manufacturing facility in the food and beverage industry
3) Experience in working in a unionized environment
4) Understanding of total end-to-end supply chain process
5) Good interpersonal and computer skills
6) Excellent organization and communication (written and oral) skills
7) Demonstrated leadership, analytical and budgeting skills
8) Ability to coordinate with other departments, as well as all levels of management
9) Team player with Strong attention to detail Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and deliver results
10) Willingness to work in flexible shifts (2 shifts during holidays and 20% of shift)
