Greetings from Eric Dear Readers,
The means by which staffing professionals connect and share information is at the core of both this newsletter and the HireAbility recruiter network.
So, in this issue of Recruiter News, we focus heavily on recruiter networking; whether its with an online network like ours, or through a state or national chapter or a more traditional association, such as NAPS or ASA.
And speaking of news in the recruiting networking space, we've got a WHOPPER of an update for you in next month's issue - so, stay tuned!
We can't let this secret out just yet, but we'll soon announce changes at HireAbility that will permanently change the recruiting network landscape!
In the meantime, happy recruiting everyone!

Ask Danny! "I'm about to place a new hiring authority, how do I get referrals?" By Danny Cahill According to Danny Question:Hi Danny, I'm hoping to place a senior VP of IT at a client, one who will be overseeing several major projects over the next two years. Although hiring plans are not finalized, the client will be looking to hire a number of additional staff members to support these projects. The VP candidate is deeply involved in the IT community in the region, and it stands to reason that he would (if hired), know a number of former colleagues who would consider positions at his new company. From a budgetary standpoint, it wouldn't make sense for this VP to refer candidates to me in the future - why would he voluntarily pay a fee (and thus affect his P&L statement) for his own referrals? Other than from a strictly relationship-based (I helped you get a good job, now feed me some kickbacks) standpoint, how can I best position myself now to get these residual referrals from him in the future? Is there a valid business reason I can leverage in order to capitalize on the situation?

Sit Down. Log On. Talk Recruiting. by Rachel King Business Week - Small Biz August/September 2007 Excerpt

The folks at HireAbility wanted to get people talking about their Londonderry, NH recruiting software and services business, so they created a place for recruiters to meet and chat.
In May, the $1-million, 12-person company launched The Recruiting Network, a social networking site. In two months, some 500 recruiters signed up, with about 90 % creating videos and blogs, and participate in discussion forums about everything from techniques for finding candidates to job interviews gone horribly wrong. "We're hoping that, because we've put in this time and energy to build a community, we have another vehicle to promote and highlight our offerings," said Craig Silverman, HireAbility's head of sales and marketing. His employees post company news in the site's forum, and information on HireAbility is displayed in Silverman's blog and in a section of the site called the Recruiter's Toolbox.

HireAbility Partners with Company that Offers Contract Services by Mark Berger, SWAT Recruiting
Staffing firms and independent recruiters wishing to expand into contract services commonly face a significant barrier when it comes to the financial burden of funding payroll and the administrative burden of funding a payroll record. This is why so many small staffing firms and other independent recruiters outsource these service to other vendors as opposed to absorbing the cost and risk themselves. For several years, HireAbility has evaluated vendors of various products and services created for the staffing industry and they have recently concluded an evaluation of several providers of contract back office services. At the conclusion of their evaluations, HireAbility launched a partnership with... Click here to find out what company HireAbility has recently partnered with. |
